Few passengers take Bekasi feeder buses
JAKARTA: Since the Transjakarta feeder bus service connecting Pulogadung and Bekasi once again started operations last month, only a handful of passengers have used the bus service.
Azmi, a Transjakarta ticket attendant, said that usually only one or two passengers used the bus for one trip.
“Until midday, there are a total of around 10 passengers taking the feeder,” she said as quoted by tempo.co.
However, the Jakarta Transportation Agency was optimistic that the feeder would see more passengers taking the bus.
“It’s not a problem. Gradually, I believe there will be more people using the feeder service,” agency head Udar Pristono said.
The feeder was first launched on March 28, but stopped operating a day after as the service was protested by public minibus drivers plying Bekasi and Jakarta routes. They said that the feeder overlapped with their routes and could harm their incomes.
The service was back on track last month after the agency changed the route. There are 15 buses that currently serve the route. The bus fare is set at Rp 9,500 (US$1.03).
